America/New_York
Mathematics Hall, 2990 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 203

How have fossil fuel corporations influenced academia? What should the role of fossil fuel companies be in academia? Is receiving fossil fuel funding permissible or at odds with institutional values? Join us to discuss these questions in a panel discussion with Karenna Gore, Anna Papp, and Jenik Radon.

Karenna Gore is the founder and executive director of the Center for Earth Ethics, which works to address the moral and spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis. Anna Papp is pursuing a PhD in Sustainable Development at SIPA and co-authored a 2022 paper in Nature that analyzes funding sources of university energy centers. Jenik Radon is an Adjunct Professor at SIPA and has advised governments on the drafting of laws governing the extractive industries.

This panel discussion is co-sponsored by Sunrise Columbia, the Columbia Policy Institute's Energy and Environment Center, and the Environmental Justice and Climate Just Cities (EJCJC) Network.

Registration is not required by heavily encouraged.
