Lex van Geen: The Pros + Cons of Environmental Testing Kits for Lead

April 17, 2025
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
America/New_York
Fayerweather Hall, 1180 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10027 Room 513

Toxicants are typically heterogeneously distributed, whether indoor or in the outside environment. This complicates detection but also means that hot spots of exposure can be avoided once they have been identified. Using examples from on-going projects in Côte d’Ivoire, Mexico, France, and Greece, Lex van Geen will illustrate how two new test kits for lead, in spite of their limitations compared to laboratory methods, can contribute to identifying these hot spots, especially if they are deployed by the affected population.
